FAMILY HISTORY
(e) George Glover (1843- ) and wife Mary J sailed from London on the 17th July 1879 on the 'Zealandia' and arrived in New Zealand on the 17th October 1879. They had two children travelling with them. Grace was aged eight and Charles was aged six. Also listed as passengers on the 'Zealandia' were George's brother inlaw Thomas Ellery and his wife Agnes Ellery nee Hambly. They had five children travelling with the. George's sister, Thurza Glover married Thomas's brother John Ellery. John and Thurza had sailed to New Zealand five years earlier on the 'SS Avalnche' on the 4th december 1875. George Glover was said to be from Devon aged 36 and his occupation was that of Farm Labourer.
(e) Thurza Glover (1847-1922) married John Ellery in 1868. John and Thurza sailed from England on the 4th December 1875 on the 'SS Avalanche' and arrived at Wellington, New Zealand on the 4th december 1875. They had four children travelling with them Mary aged five, Charles (Ben) aged 3, Annie aged 2 and Fanny aged eight months (see Ellery Tree for further information).
