FAMILY HISTORY

Henry Double (1690-1767) was from Copdock, Suffolk, England. Henry married Elizabeth Martin on 5th October 1713 at Ipswich or Washbrooke in Suffolk, England.

(3) George Double (1716/1717-1779) was born in Copdock and married Mary Dale. Mary's parents were Daniel & Mary Dale.

(a) Henry Double (1753- ) was born in Holton, Suffolk, England and married Elizabeth Hazelton on 16th February 1779 in Bentley, England.

(c) Mary Double (1803- ) was born on the 7th February 1803 in Raydon, Suffolk, England. Mary married Thomas S Clarke in St Mary's Church, Raydon, Suffolk on the 26th July 1820. Thomas was born in Hadleigh, Suffolk and was a Brickmaker. In 1891 Mary was living withher Grandson, Walter at 6 Back Street, Ipswich, Suffolk. Thomas and Mary had a son, Abraham born 1838 and a daughter Anna Marie born 1843. Both children were born in Hadleigh, Suffolk.

(c) Maria Double (1806- ) married George Lawrence. In the 1851 Census Maria's father was aged 78 and stopping with them at No 54 Upper Street, Raydon, Suffolk, England. George and Maria were surrounded by various family members living in Upper Street, Raydon. Numbers 34, 41, 54, 55, 57 and 59 all had 'Double' family members present in the homes during the 1851 census. George and Maria Lawrence had the following children listed in the 1851 census - Henry aged 14, John aged and William aged 3. Also lodging with them was George's brother John Lawrence aged 42.
