FAMILY HISTORY

(b) William Eagle (1758- ) was from East Dereham, Norfolk, England. He married Mary Dawson who was born about 1762 and was also from Dereham, Norfolk. All of their known children were born in East Dereham. John was born 7th November 1784, Sarah was born 27 April 1787 and christened on the 4th May 1787, Edward was born on the 16th April 1790, Samuel was born on the 13th December 1793 and Abraham was born on the 10th April 1796.

(c) Edward Eagle (1790-1880) son of William b.1758 above was born on the 16th April 1790 and christened on the 19th April 1790 in East Dereham, Norfolk, England. On the 18th August 1811 in Stone-near-Dartford he married Mary Smith. Edward's two know male children, Robert and Edward, were born in Dartford, Kent but Edward (Snr) is said to have come from East Dereham in Norfolk.

(d) Edward Eagle (1814- ) son of Edward b.1790 above was christened on the 20th May 1814 in Dartford, Kent.

(c) Samuel Eagle (1793- ) son of William b.1758 above married Mary Unknown about 1819. The children known to be born to them were all born in Dartford, Kent, England. It is unknown when Samuel moved from Norfolk into Kent but the 1841 Census (see Census below) shows that Samuel was living in Dartford at this time. Two of his children, Samuel and Edward, became Shoemakers and at the time of the 1881 Census the two widowed brothers can be found living in the Bermondsey, London, Workhouse aged 76 and 71. Edward is said to be a Shoemaker whilst Samuel was now classed as a Cordainer (Master Shoemaker). Son William remained a Cooper for most of his life.

(d) William Eagle (1826-1863) son of Samuel Eagle b. abt 1793 above and wife Ann had a 18 year old Ester Kennett or Hennett stopping with them at the time of the 1851 Census HELP .... Ester was said to be a neice - can any one please tell me who her parents were? Was she related to William or Ann & can any one tell me the maiden name of Ann?

(d) Robert Eagle (1812-1879) married Hannah Blanche Puttenham (Putnam) on the 3 November 1833 in Bexley, Kent. Hannah was the daughter of Jonathon Puttenham and Sarah Johnson. She was born on the 20th December in Hertfordshire and died on the 21st May 1900 in Karori, Wellington, New Zealand. Robert and Hannah arrived in New Zealand on the 'Gleaner' in 1857 with eleven children.

(e) William Eagle (1850- ) son of William Eagle b.1826 is listed as an unmarried Soldier in the 1871 Census in the Weedon Barracks in Dartford, Kent.

(e) William Fergus Eagle (1846-1927) son of Robert Eagle b. 1812 above married Eliza Larkins Wright on the 20th May 1871. Eliza was born at sea in 1849 and died on the 10th November 1879 in Karori, Wellington. She is buried in the Karori Cemetery. Eliza was the daughter of Daniel and Henrietta Wright.

(f) William Frederick Eagle (1874-1924) son of William Fergus Eagle b. 1846 above was born on the 6th december 1874 in Greytown, New Zealand. On the 10th July 1897 in Dannevirke, New Zealand he married Ellen Larkins Tapp. She was the daughter of William Tapp and Sarah Ann Parkes.

HELP .... can anyone tellme who the parents of a Mary Eagle was? Mary married Christian Harris and they had a daughter Amelia Maria Harris born about 1868 in Hokitika, NZ. Amelia married John Theodore White in 1885 in Wellington. She married a second time to Lancelot Francis Ellison Huff (who was born in Parramatta, NSW, Australia) on the 31st May 1917 in the Registry Office, Wellington, NZ.
